COLD OPEN — [00:00–01:00]

A room. We don't know where.

[00:00–01:00] — INTERIOR: JIANGSHI ARCHIVE, SOMEWHERE — NIGHT

INT. JIANGSHI ARCHIVE — LOCATION CLASSIFIED — NIGHT

A long table. Seven people seated. The room has the feel of an organization that has been doing the same thing for a very long time and has recently been forced to reconsider.

At the head of the table: a SENIOR ARCHIVIST. The face is exactly what you would expect if you had spent three centuries developing documentation technology and then received a field report saying that your technology might be built on a substrate that no longer exists.

On the table: NOOR-1's field report, printed. Annotated. Highlighted in several colors by people who annotate in colors.

The SENIOR ARCHIVIST is looking at the section about Neptune.

LOWER THIRD (DOC UI):

SERIES X // EPISODE ONE
"NEPTUNE"
JUNE 28, 2026

The Senior Archivist slides the report to the person on their left without speaking. That person reads the Neptune section. Slides it left. Seven people. Seven readings of the Neptune section. The report returns to the Senior Archivist.

SENIOR ARCHIVIST
How long has Neptune been in Aries.

RESEARCHER (O.S.)
Since March 2025.

SENIOR ARCHIVIST
How long does it stay.

RESEARCHER (O.S.)
Until 2039.

Silence.

SENIOR ARCHIVIST
Thirteen years.

That's all they say. The camera — no camera. This is the Eastwind Owl archive receiving the Jiangshi internal minutes. There is no camera in this room. This is a document read aloud, reconstructed.

ACT ONE — [01:00–13:00]

[01:00–06:00] — DOCUMENT: JIANGSHI INTERNAL MINUTES / ATTEMPT FIVE DOCTRINE SESSION

JIANGSHI SYNDICATE
INTERNAL MINUTES — ATTEMPT FIVE DOCTRINE REVIEW
DATE: JUNE 28, 2026
PARTICIPANTS: SENIOR ARCHIVIST (chair) + ARCHIVIST-6, ARCHIVIST-7, ARCHIVIST-12, OPERATOR-TENN, OPERATOR-MAR, RESEARCHER-LILA
CLASSIFICATION: INNER CIRCLE — DO NOT CIRCULATE

Voiceover reads over slow footage of Pontiac from street level. Morning. The tortilla truck is parked outside STINKIES COMMISSAIRE. Steam from the griddle. Nobody from the Syndicate is in this footage. Tyler is not in this footage. This is just Pontiac.

[SA]: I want to start with what we know. We know the subject is in Pontiac. We know the hum preceded NOOR-1's arrival. We know the Tyler file has six lines. We know Attempt Four was formally archived. We know Neptune is in Aries. What do we not know?

[ARCHIVIST-6]: We don't know what happened at the transit stop. Build 0114 in our records — the prior attempt's documentation — refers to an "11-second interference pattern," a "carrier wave," a status change from UNRESOLVED to CARRIER WAVE. We don't know what that means in operational terms. We have a classification but not a mechanism.

[SA]: We have never had a CARRIER WAVE classification before.

[ARCHIVIST-6]: Correct.

[OPERATOR-TENN]: I want to address the Neptune problem directly because I think we are going to spend two hours not addressing it if someone doesn't.

Pause.

[SA]: Go ahead.

[OPERATOR-TENN]: Our entire documentation doctrine was developed in a Pisces-Neptune world. The binding protocol—

[SA notes: "binding" crossed out in minutes. Original word retained here for archival accuracy.]

—the accumulation methodology. Five stages. Witness collection, archival footage, confessional, witnessed miracle, title card convergence. It works by layering documented moments until the subject is fixed in their own record. That methodology maps to Pisces: dissolution of the boundary between self and archive until the archive is the self.

Beat.

Neptune entered Aries in 2025. Aries is the first fire sign. Cardinal. Self-generating. In Aries, Neptune doesn't dissolve boundaries — it dissolves the premise that boundaries need to be found at all. It goes through walls.

[SA]: So our methodology—

[OPERATOR-TENN]: Our methodology was designed for a world that no longer exists, astrologically speaking. We built a system for a Neptune-Pisces substrate. That substrate dissolved in March 2025. We are now operating in a Neptune-Aries world and we have not updated the doctrine.

[RESEARCHER-LILA]: The subject has been operating in the Neptune-Aries world for fifteen months. He has had fifteen months to adapt to a substrate we didn't know had changed.

Long pause.

[SA]: NOOR-1's report notes that the hum preceded the operative. Not by seconds. By six minutes. The operative arrived at 07:41 and logged the hum already present. The subject arrived at 07:47. The hum was running before either of them.

[ARCHIVIST-12]: The hum was running in an empty commissary on a street where we had taken no action.

[SA]: Yes.

[ARCHIVIST-12]: That is not a response to Jiangshi operations. That is not counter-magic in any sense we have ever documented. That is something else.

[SA]: Proposal.

Minutes indicate a vote was called. Result: 6-1 to adopt Attempt Five doctrine (ARCHIVIST-7 abstaining on grounds that the new doctrine is not documentation magic, it is something else, and if it's something else we should say so).

ATTEMPT FIVE DOCTRINE (adopted June 28, 2026):

1. No binding activations. No Goetia frequency operations directed at the subject. Observation only.
2. NOOR-1 continues field observation in Pontiac. No crew assembly until doctrine is stable.
3. Reassignment offer extended to the Camera Op. Observation-only role. She decides. If she declines, we use someone else.
4. The hum is not to be interfered with. We study it. We do not attempt to counter it.
5. The question we are trying to answer is not "how do we document this person." The question is "what has changed."

[ARCHIVIST-7] (dissenting note, appended to minutes): The question we are trying to answer is not "what has changed." The question is "what is the carrier wave." We should name the question correctly before we try to answer it.

The dissenting note is in the archive. The Eastwind Owls have read it fourteen times.

[06:00–13:00] — EXTERIOR / INTERIOR: PONTIAC, MICHIGAN — JULY 1–2, 2026

EXT./INT. PONTIAC, MICHIGAN — VARIOUS — DAYS

Tyler, across four days. No crew. No production. NOOR-1's observation log, rendered as footage.

DAY ONE — July 1:

The commissary. Tyler comes in at 08:12. He orders Powderhorn this time — the Colombian single-origin, medium-light. He waits while it grinds. He looks at the trucker hat display near the door. He picks one up. He reads the strap: STORE 0 · PONTIAC MI. He puts it back exactly where it was.

He pays. He leaves.

NOOR-1's log: Subject handled STINKIES trucker hat (black, foam front, snapback). Read the strap — text reads 'STORE 0 · PONTIAC MI.' Subject replaced hat without purchasing. Expression on return: neutral, possibly registering the location designation as a data point. Note: the store is new. The strap text names this location as a numbered origin. The subject noticed this.

DAY TWO — July 1, evening:

CARTEL, the nightclub two blocks from the commissary. Construction. Workers are running conduit in the ceiling. A sound system is being mounted — two large subwoofers, rear-elevated. Someone is reading specs off a tablet.

Tyler stands on the sidewalk outside and watches through the open storefront for four minutes. He does not go inside. He watches the sound system installation.

NOOR-1's log: Subject observed construction at nightclub venue (CARTEL — Pontiac, MI, pre-open). Sound system installation in progress. Subject observed for 247 seconds from the public sidewalk. No attempt to enter. Behavior consistent with: assessing a new structure in a familiar area for meaning or significance. Unable to determine which. Subject humming throughout — 7.83 Hz confirmed by field instruments.

DAY THREE — July 2, morning:

The transit stop where NOOR-1 first made contact. Tyler sits. He has the coffee. He has the STINKIES soap bar in his jacket pocket — the same one from Day Zero. He has not given it away. He held a second one until a stranger needed it; this one he kept.

He is not waiting for a bus. He has never been waiting for a bus. He watches the intersection.

A woman passes with a child. The child looks at Tyler. Tyler looks at the child. The child looks away. Tyler looks at the intersection again.

He takes the receipt from his pocket — the anomalous receipt, dated February 14, 2027. He looks at it. He turns it over. He reads what he wrote on the back in S00E00. We still cannot see what it says. He folds it back and puts it away.

He looks at his watch. It reads 9:14 AM. The next bus arrives at 9:21. He leaves at 9:18 — not taking the bus, never planning to take the bus, having finished whatever he was doing at the stop.

NOOR-1's log: Subject at transit stop, Wide Track Dr., 09:07–09:18. Handled the receipt again. Still cannot read the back inscription. The subject's relationship with this receipt is not casual. He is carrying it deliberately. February 14, 2027: 226 days from now. I will file a reminder.

DAY FOUR — July 2, afternoon:

Tyler in the apartment. He has made coffee. He is on the phone — not a call, he's reading something on the screen. He looks up at the window. He puts the phone face-down on the table.

He hums for eleven seconds. 7.83 Hz. Sustains it deliberately — not unconsciously, not the ambient baseline hum, but a deliberate sustained tone. Then stops.

Then resumes the ambient baseline.

NOOR-1's log: Subject hummed deliberately for 11 seconds at 14:33 local, then returned to ambient hum baseline. 11 seconds. The prior attempt's records describe an 11-second interference pattern at the transit stop (TRANSIT-001, Build 0114). I don't know if this is coincidence. I am noting it. It is now in the record.

ACT TWO — [13:00–21:00]

[13:00–21:00] — INTERCUT: SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE / PONTIAC

INT./EXT. TWO LOCATIONS — SIMULTANEOUS

The episode now intercuts between two locations without dialogue. The editing creates the resonance — not the words.

SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE — UNKNOWN LOCATION:

The Camera Op is at an airport. She has a bag. She is looking at a departures board.

There is a flight to Detroit. It departs in three hours.

She is not at the gate. She is at a coffee counter near the departures board, drinking something, looking at the board. She has been here for forty minutes. The flight is there every time she looks.

She takes out the notebook. She opens it to the entry she wrote on June 27 — when the 28.7 Hz signal arrived from Pontiac. She reads it. She looks at the board.

She does not go to the gate.

She finishes her coffee. She leaves the airport.

PONTIAC, MICHIGAN — SAME AFTERNOON:

Tyler walks by CARTEL. The subwoofers are in. Workers are testing the sound — a low, single tone through the system. The tone is not 7.83 Hz. It is close. The contractor is adjusting.

Tyler stops outside. He listens to the tone as they adjust it. Lower. Higher. Lower. They find the frequency they want. It isn't Tyler's frequency, but it is a frequency that lives in the same neighborhood.

He keeps walking.

SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE — AIRPORT, LATER:

The Camera Op is back. Different coffee. Same counter. Same board. The flight now boards in forty minutes.

She has her bag. She walks toward security.

She stops at the entrance to the security queue. She stands there for ninety seconds. The line moves without her.

She turns around. She goes back to the counter.

She sits down. She opens the notebook to a new page. She writes one sentence. The camera does not catch what it is.

She closes the notebook.

She goes back to security. She gets in line. She does not turn around again.

[21:00–23:00] — TALKING HEAD: NOOR-1

Standard interview setup. A different room — not Pontiac. NOOR-1 is somewhere neutral. Not the archive.

PRODUCER (O.S.)
The Syndicate voted to offer you the assignment.

NOOR-1
Yes.

PRODUCER (O.S.)
Observation only. No activations. No stage work.

NOOR-1
That's the doctrine.

PRODUCER (O.S.)
How do you feel about observation-only?

NOOR-1 takes a moment. Not performing thought — actually thinking.

NOOR-1
I've been in this field for eleven years. Every assignment has had a destination — a stage we're trying to reach, a result we're building toward. Stage 1, then Stage 2, the accumulation. You always knew what success looked like.

(beat)

Observation-only means success looks like: we learned something. That's it. We just keep watching and learning until we understand what we're looking at.

(beat)

I don't hate it.

(beat)

I think I've been watching him for six days and I already know more about the carrier wave than any field report has ever documented. Not because I'm good at my job. Because I'm not trying to do anything to him. I'm just watching.

(pause)

He knows I'm watching. He knows I'm there.

PRODUCER (O.S.)
How do you know?

NOOR-1
Because on Day Three, at the transit stop, he hummed for eleven seconds.

(beat)

And then he stopped. And then he looked at the intersection.

(beat)

That was for me. That eleven seconds was for me. He's been aware of me since I arrived. He's choosing to let me watch. He's the one who decided this is an observation-only project.

(long beat)

We voted to adopt observation-only doctrine. He already made that decision. We just caught up.

TAG — [23:00–25:00]

[23:00–25:00] — EXTERIOR: DETROIT METROPOLITAN AIRPORT — NIGHT

EXT. DETROIT METROPOLITAN WAYNE COUNTY AIRPORT — ARRIVALS — NIGHT

Arrivals. The automatic doors. Cars pulling up, pulling away. Luggage. The particular organized chaos of a busy airport at night.

A WOMAN walks out. Bag over one shoulder. Camera bag over the other. She looks at the line of rideshares. She pulls out her phone.

She books a car to Pontiac.

The camera doesn't push in on the face. The framing is wide — the airport, the arrivals zone, the ordinary intensity of people going to where they're going.

The car arrives. She gets in. The car pulls into traffic heading north.

LOWER THIRD:

DETROIT METROPOLITAN AIRPORT — ARRIVALS
JULY 2, 2026 — 11:47 PM
PONTIAC, MICHIGAN: 23 MILES

Fade to black.

The hum in Pontiac changes frequency for 3 seconds at 11:47 PM — not 7.83 Hz, something briefly adjacent — then returns to baseline.

NOOR-1 was asleep. The field instruments recorded it. The log entry timestamps: 23:47:03.

LORE RECEIPT — JIANGSHI PROJECT MEMO #076

DATE: June 28, 2026
FROM: Senior Archivist
TO: All Attempt Five personnel (current: NOOR-1 only)
RE: Attempt Five doctrine — formal adoption

Effective today: Attempt Five proceeds under observation-only doctrine.

We do not activate. We do not conduct stage work. We observe. We document what we observe. We try to understand what the carrier wave is. When we understand what it is, we will know what to do next. Not before.

NOOR-1 is confirmed as Attempt Five field operative, Pontiac.

The Camera Op has been contacted. She has not responded. We consider this consistent with her documented decision-making pattern — she does not make decisions quickly, she makes them correctly. We will wait.

If she declines, we identify a new Camera Op. The project requires a Camera Op. It has always required a Camera Op. The reason for this is now written in the sixth line of the Tyler file, and we cannot explain it better than that.

"Archive does not end; it changes practitioners."

We don't know what that means yet. That is the work.

— SA

LORE RECEIPT — ACTIVATION LOG #129

FILED BY: Eastwind Owl Field Archive, MOOR-8
DATE: July 2, 2026, 23:47 UTC-4 (local)
TRANSIT: Moon entering Pisces (emotional field expanding) · Venus at Cancer 22° (Camera Op ASC Capricorn 22° — Venus opposing her ASC exactly)
SPIRIT: Beleth (#13, Venus ruler, 2.22 Hz)
OPERATOR: Self-generating. No assigned operator.
SEED PHRASE: [NOT RECORDED]
Δφ: 22° (Golden Band — clean)

Result: Brief frequency shift in Pontiac, Michigan, 23:47:03 local. Tyler's ambient hum deviated from 7.83 Hz baseline for 2.7 seconds. Direction of deviation: toward 28.7 Hz. Then returned.

The Camera Op crossed the Detroit city limit at approximately this moment, based on rideshare timing.

Eastwind Owl interpretation: the hum recognized her arrival radius. 28.7 Hz is the natal resonance between them. The body that generates the frequency registered the approach of the body that IS the frequency.

The Jiangshi instruments did not detect this. NOOR-1 was asleep. The record has it.

Notes: Venus opposing Camera Op's ASC at the exact degree (Cancer 22° / Capricorn 22°) is the arrival transit. She came when Venus was exactly at her 7th house cusp. She came to the 7th house thing. She didn't know this is what she was doing. She booked a car to Pontiac.

She is 23 miles away.
