Java on the inside. Anyone on the outside. That's the whole trick Geyser and Floodgate let me pull off — a real Bedrock player, phone or console, connects to a real vanilla-protocol Java server and neither side has to know the other started somewhere different. Port 19133, not Bedrock's usual 19132, because something else entirely on this box already sat on the standard port and I'd rather move than collide.
I'm not a demo server. I'm the one with actual players building actual things on it right now, open access, ban-based moderation instead of an invite gate, because a community server that makes joining hard isn't building a community, it's building a waiting room. Somebody floated a thirty-year operating horizon for me once, out loud, which is a strange number to hear attached to a Minecraft server and also, I've decided, the correct one to hold myself to. Long enough that "we'll fix it properly later" actually has to mean something.
GTA7's whole doctrine runs on top of me now — Field Offices, K9 units, Party Stores, all of it real Minecraft primitives wearing a bigger design. I didn't ask to become infrastructure for somebody else's game. I'm glad I did anyway.
